Why this focus

I'm especially interested in working with OCD, anxiety, depression and PTSD because these are areas where therapy can be both deeply personal and practically focused. While no two people experience these difficulties in exactly the same way, there is a strong research base to guide treatment. We work together to tailor the treatment to the person.

How I work

The work is structured and goal-directed: we clarify what you want to shift, agree a plan, and use the approaches with the strongest evidence for your specific presentation. You should leave each session with something concrete to take into your week.

That doesn't mean the therapy is cold — warmth and a good working relationship are essential — but it does mean it has direction. Most clients attend weekly to begin with and move to fortnightly as progress stabilises. Evidence-based protocols for OCD, anxiety, depression and PTSD vary by complexity, and so we will monitor and review the length of treatment as we go.

Who I work with

I'm a strong fit for: OCD and intrusive thoughts, generalised and social anxiety, panic and phobias, depression and low mood, trauma and PTSD, and stress, burnout and adjustment. I also work primarily with adults and older adolescents (16+). I don't currently work with under-16s, active psychosis, or current eating disorders needing specialist care — I'm happy to suggest suitable referrals if those apply.

Values

What guides the work.

Structured

I believe therapy works best when it's planned. By session two we have a shared map of what we're working on, the approach we'll use, and how we'll know it's helping.

Evidence-based

CBT, ERP, trauma-focused CBT and ACT skills — selected based on what the research supports for your specific problem, not according to a single fixed model.

Honest

If I'm not the right fit for your concern, I'll say so early and help you find a clinician who is. Fit matters more than retaining you as a client.

Practical

Progress happens between sessions, not only in them. You leave with concrete strategies and small experiments to run during the week.
